Bugs in the frontend are very easy to detect and only have a local impact.
So I think it is OK if the dialogs are polished a little bit - even in the
code freeze phase.

The crucial question is: When will the serious bugs in the LyX core be
fixed? And is there anybody with the knowledge and time to do that? I
noticed that recently nobody is talking about the release of 1.2.0
anymore. This is something that I (as a user and observer) am worried
about.
