Dear LyX developers!

This email carries two messages. First I want to inform You about a
successful LyX port to Sun Solaris 8, both Intel and Sparc architectures,
at Tartu University, Estonia. The porting procedure consisted basically
of ./configure and make, of course xforms library had to be installed
before. Perhaps this information is not new to You, but at least
www.lyx.org does not mention Solaris port yet.

Another remark concerns the information about codetables of languages in
the file 'languages' from LyX distribution. In this file the codepage for
Estonian language is written to be ISO 8859-4. This is not correct,
officially it should be 8859-15, but 8859-1 is also fine (the only extra
characters needed are \v{s} and \v{z}, but there ones are handled by LyX
anyway). The way it is now produces an error message if the document
language is declared to be Estonian (I guess that's because there are no
latin-4 codepage descriptions coming with LyX). So could You please change
the Estonian codepage to 8859-1 in the next version of Your great
software, please.

Thank You!
Jan Willemson,
a satisfied LyX user from Estonia
