Hi,
I have patched CVS with a "-version" commandline argument, useful to
accompany bugreports (patch attached).
With this patch "lyx -version" (or "lyx --version") outputs
in my case with qt2:

I have patched configure.in, lyx.man, src/lyx_main.C and added this to
the relevant Changlog files.
