small mathed bugs

First, thanks to all for their help getting the symbols stuff to display. 
It's fantastic!

Being anal, I've just gone through the Lamport book and recreated his Tables 
3.3-3.10

Two tiny bugs to report
1. \backslash gives LaTeX errors
2. \| displays incorrectly (since \parallel displays correctly)
