Hi,

I use LyX 1.1.6fix3 under Windows. I have it installed both at work and at
home, so I can work on my thesis in both places. The following has
happened: I send a lyx-file to home, where it will look fine. I edit it,
and send it back. At work, everything looks fine, except for the tables. I
see all kinds of lyx-commands in the text (the stuff you see when you open
a lyx-file in a texteditor). I've lost several quite complicated tables
because of this.

On a hunch, I tried to convert a lyx-file with a table to DOS and back to
Unix again (using the commands unix2dos and dos2unix, which are installed
on a Solaris system here at work). The problem appeared, and was
subsequently solved by the second conversion. So it appears to be a
CR/LF-problem. Under Cygwin, you can mount you filesystem either binary or
text. I assume I have different types of mount at work and at home. Making
them the same would probably fix my problem. Still, I think something
should be done about this. Surely LyX should have a format that is portable
between different computer systems?

Good luck. I'm eagerly awaiting version for Windows using a better GUI.
