and rather unfortunate that the *really* stable version of lyx doesn't 
compile anymore.

ps. yes I can use the rpm.

pps. but I like to replace 

\begin{tabular}{ 

with 

\begin{tabular*}{\textwidth}{@{\extracolsep{\fill}}

in the source so that my tables line out on the textwidth.
