But we are writing this software also for the users and they also need to
be able to compile it. The survey that was done some time ago showed that
there are enough egcs 1.1.2 users.
The simple solution would be to leave it as it is right now, and if noone
complains on the pre releases release it as it is, if a user comes up
later with this problem we will provide him a patch to revert the change.
I know that with my RH 6.1 I could not work on LyX, it took me some time
to switch to unstable debian to get a better compiler.
