Yes, in spades :) This is *exactly* why I dumped my fleet of macs,
which used the old word 1-5.1 typesetting commands, and bought a unix
box.
You can attach a key command to anything you feel like, but most of
the more common ones are there. Equation writing is pretty much latex
if you do it from the keyboard, but you see your equation displayed as
you type it. You can navigate around your equations with the arrow
keys. You can type raw latex, which in most cases is converted
instantly. If you need one of the latex features that isn't
implemented, no problem; raw latex can be left lying around.
In short: it's true; lyx is the best thing since bottled beer.
