No guarantee assumed. I just thought it would be kind of nice to be able
to read my own files on other computers. I don't necessarily have the
permissions/diskspace/time to install the latest LyX on every computer I
chance upon, you see.

If the formats are nearly identical then it just might be possible to
support transparent upwards compatibility. Otherwise, a converter
utility and/or a "Save as version 1.1.x" function would be very useful.
