I recently tried to copy (as in highlight and then copy to the clipboard) a region of a LyX document that contained some xfig diagrams imported as "external material". I got some odd errors: first, convert couldn't find /usr/bin/gs (this is an RPM bug: I have Ghostscript 7 RPMs installed, which go in /usr/local, which confuses ImageMagick). Anyway, I just put a symlink in /usr/bin. Second problem: I don't have gifscii installed, and end up with a simple "GS>" prompt in the console. This is dangerous: LyX should never get stuck waiting for input, as I managed by mistake to quit LyX by pressing Ctrl+C. It seems that the LyX configuration process did not look for gifscii, but just assumed it. -- http://sc3d.org/rrt/ | Academics age by degrees
