If they did then their gcc-2.96 would crash with an internal error.

Mike,  do this:
        rpm -e `rpm -qa | grep gcc` --nodeps

the Mdk gcc is crap.  Rebuild your own 2.95.2 or 2.95.3.

If you like I'll send you my 2.95.3 spec file so you can replace the mdk
gcc with something useful.
