Finally, This has been fixed.
I copy pasted the entire Lyx-visible main contents of the file into another 
chapter template file I had been working with recently, and compiled, waited 
for sometime. The result is:


While doing so, I got an error while compiling. I had to remove an the Angstrom 
symbol which I inserted from the list of symbols in Lyx menu, instead of the 
\AA with which I had trouble earlier for some unknown reason. 
I guess there was problem was with the old set of packages in the old preamble 
with new versions of stix package.
