Well, it was one before I remembered that I had to wap into to_utf8() %-/

This is fixed now. The mix of string and docstring in our so-called APIs is pretty annoying.

I confess that I do not understand why we sometimes have one and sometimes have the other. I'm guessing it is some leftover from long ago.

If it would be worth doing, I'd be happy to try to standardize some of this.
