Correct, I was bisecting there. I did it like 2 years back just to look on some issue, I don't remember exact details but vaguely it had something to do with gcc support for certain c++ feature and lyx compilability. It was fairly easy, took the base with very old debian, 'apt build-dep lyx' to get dependencies for compilation of old lyx, git clone and checkout somewhere around and you are set.
