I don't think it is possible to set colors that work with our settings and the diverse default colors that are used on all OSes and desktop environments (on GNOME, for instance, system colors look different, the background is darker, albeit not black). Having written that, you can try to come up with something for this particular color (textlabel1) that works better for you but does not work worse with LyX's default colors. -- Jürgen
