Riki did it on commit a4a1542fe7b33abc7b9f0a264005060b001b0de3 Looking at the stable series while in development the version suffix looks similar to the above. For what is worth while building the rpm for Fedora of the development version I set explicitly the version suffix. This is also my suggestion to you. %configure --with-version-suffix=-devel That ensures that versions suffix is always the same. FWIW I am using the autotools but it should be possible using cmake.
