The alternative to what I did would be to count "dirty" insets at global level and only draw when count is zero. However, it strikes me as fragile. We do not want to end up in a state where LyX does not display anything after some point, do we?

For the same reasons (not ready), we already skip display when view is marked busy or when there is an undo group open. This is not the case here, but it would make sense to add this condition.

Do you think it is worth the risk?
