If you are positively sure you can get it to work and it will not
break other compilers, then we can actually do it. However, fix2 has
really been too late for some time, and I am not sure that compiling
on CC is a major thing to fix now (it is however important in main
branch in order to be able to run purify, which supports only 2.8.1 as
gcc version).
