Thanks for testing my patch, Cor! (And thanks, Jürgen, for your feedback)
I agree in principle with your proposed improvements. One possible
solution is to go back to using pixels--currently, the fullscreen
width is limited this way. It is also possible to display only inches
and cm as units.
To begin with, I like the patch. Part of what I write below is a
continuation of the discussion that too place with racoon in the ticket
itself.
Concerning the too long list of units: %textwidth makes sense too, IMO.
There is a way to restrict the units that are shown, but I do not
remember how.
Note that the unit selector is usually after the value.
It should be possible to get rid of the "limit" checkbox, since the
length value can be empty, and this can be shown in the interface as
"none" (look at caret width above in the dialog). In this case, the unit
selector could be disabled.
Concerning the 7in default: I see in LaTeX sources that the default text
width is 360pt, that is, 5in. What does the 7in come from? [I am not
asking for change, I ask :)]
Having a pixel value would be nice too, but I do not know whether it can
be used together with our Length class.
A proper commit message would be nice too :)
