For my part, moving away from significant EOL whitespace would seem to take us to a more idiomatic place that reduces the likelihood of unintended side effects. I've spent some time thinking about your proposal here and I can't think of a "better" approach (no matter how I measure better). For my part, such an update would be "worth the trouble" and I'd be happy to help implement it. Thoughts? Thank you, Joel
