Nomencl changed the escape character from " to (oddly enough) %.
However, this seems buggy. While
\nomenclature{%@, %|}{foo}
works, but it seems to fails with more than two escapes.
Probably worth a bug report at
https://github.com/borisveytsman/nomencl/issues
