It turns out, that the installed font is the cause.
What I had to do:
1.) Purge package fonts-freefont-otf
2a.) Try to purge package fonts-freefont-ttf
Invalid, because this package depends on
kubuntu-desktop,ubuntu-desktop,ubuntu-mate-core,ubuntu-mate-desktop,vlc-plugin-skins2
and I need them
2b.) Copy texlive fonts to system
#cp
/usr/local/texlive/current/texmf-dist/fonts/truetype/public/gnu-freefont/*.ttf
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/.
(I already had enabled the texlive fonts to be used by the system, but somehow
fc-cache prefers the last found font.)
