Dear all,

I would like to start the journey towards 2.4.0. The first step is alpha1, obviously.

I would like to do that before end of the month if possible. Does it seem sensible, or do some of you have ongoing work that they want to finish for 2.4 ?

I did not find whatever rules we have for the different release stages. When do we finish translations, documentation?

My hunch is that for alpha1 we just release what we have now to see what happens. Does this seem reasonable?

Even for this first step, there are many prerequisites:

1/ I need to get a gpg key and be able to use it

2/ I need to be able to upload to ftp.lyx.org (have to check that)

3/ The following files need to be updated:
  INSTALL.cmake (Kornel?),
INSTALL.MacOSX (Stephan?), should it be renamed INSTALL.macOS?
INSTALL.Win32 (who?), should it be renamed INSTALL.Windows?
README.Cygwin (Enrico?), should it be renamed INSTALL.Cygwin?

JMarc
