Dear LyX developers, dear Scott, working on the Hebrew documentation, I came across a generic problem with tables and languages in LyX:
Behaviour: Currently, table the cell content is assumed to be in the *document language*, not in the current "outer" language unless set explicitly to be otherwise. Problem 1 (Greek): In a Greek document, English text parts not marked up as English will be written in Greek letters using the "LGR transliteration" However, this also happens for text in a table inside an English part - The LyX GUI shows the surrounding text and the table with blue underline but "cell content" is written as "ςελλ ςοντεντ". It is related. In this special case, a lot of strange things happen, because this is a table with outer language English in a Hebrew document. This leads to problems with RTL/LTR and input encoding switching. I changed this in the documentation (fixing the apparent issues) but we need to consider the intended LyX behaviour regarding language nesting/inheritance inside insets and tables. Thanks, Günter
