Jürgen, this is related to the & in file names. This breaks 'make
distcheck'.
Can we get make distcheck to accept such names?
I don't know. All I found is:
https://www.gnu.org/software/automake/manual/html_node/Limitations-on-File-Names.html
which implies that we should not have issues.
