I seem to remember that a change in character thickness when selecting used to be a more widespread problem in LyX. As far as I can it is almost entirely gone. The only case I just stumbled upon was when a background color, for example mathbg, is set to "transparent".

This might happen indeed... But does this transparent color do something useful?

You mean I could just set the math background color to the work area background color? I guess the downside of this is that math within insets with background color different from the work area might look funny - depending on the work area background.

But I guess that is acceptable. I just wanted to check whether that is a know "bug" (I guess it is not even really a bug since one cannot choose transparent from within the LyX GUI).
