I still find this issue annoying, as it causes me extra clicks.
Guillaume, I can see why you would find extra compilations annoying (and
indeed extra compilations take more time than extra clicks), but I still
don't understand your objection. Are you thinking of something like the
following situation?

1. You're working in LyX, typing, typing, ...
2. Now you think "It *might* be nice to see how this part looks in the
   PDF".
2. You right-click and choose "Forward Search".
3. Suppose you get the message "Couldn't proceed".
4. Now you rethink your desire to look at the PDF, with the logic "well,
   I kinda wanted to see the PDF, but now that I know I need to compile,
   the benefit is not worth the cost".
5. Go back to typing, typing, ...

Is that what you have in mind or something else?
