I don't see why. You believe in free software, fine. But be consistent.
Windows is not free, a program that runs under windows will therefore never
be free. Thus, if you believe in free software you shouldn't care about
windows *at all*. It is as simple as that.
My point is more practical. If lyx uses qt under linux, which is free,
providing lyx binaries as a service comes at little additional cost if the
rest of the code does not depend too much on platform dependend features.
Trolltech might donate some licenses, people like Kalle might compile it,
whatever.
Which brings me back to my initial statement: I am not sure I understand
this "I don't want qt windows binaries"-attitude.
