Hello Everyone,
I've finally joined the lyx-devel list. Something I've been meaning to
do ever since I used this lovely document processor. I thought I'd
e-mail the list outlining my skills, availability and how I wish to
contribute to LyX.
I'm employed full-time (and then some) as a Software Developer for
Compudigm International Ltd, a Data Visualisation firm. I'm currently
assigned to internal development work. Unfortunately exactly what I'm
doing is all tied up with a large nasty NDA, but it involves python,
perl, SQL and XML.
I have C++ programming experience however it is rather limited
compared to my perl / python experience. I see LyX as a chance for me
to give something back to the opensource community and to expand my
C++ skills.
At work and at home I use GNOME with LyX as my only non-gnome / gtk+
application. I'm hoping I can help change that. I wish to help with
GUI development for the gnome frontend.
I've already started messing around in Glade trying to create a few of
the missing dialogs and they're starting to look quite nice and
complete. Unfortunately I find the xforms code unreadable and
counterintuitive and am having a hard time trying to integrate these
dialogs I've written.
I guess the main points I'm getting at are:
1) Who is in charge of the GNOME/gtkmm port, and can they get in touch
with me
2) Are there any good documents describing the structure of the LyX
source and how the various frontends interact with the core.
As a parting comment, I'm 20 years old with an incomplete Mathematics
& Economics education (still studying). I'm a native English speaker
who lives in New Zealand.
