Dear all,

Now that the mailing lists are back and seem to be working well, I would
like to discuss our next announcement. We have not officially announced
2.3.0rc1 (the lists went down just before we were going to).

One option is just to announce rc1 now. Alternatively, we could choose
to not announce rc1 and start planning for rc2. In my opinion, this
might make sense in order to get as many testers of rc2 as possible. I'm
guessing that if we announce rc1, and then announce rc2 soon after,
there will be some users that test rc1 but not rc2. Since there have
been significant changes after rc1, it would be nice to have as many
testers of rc2 as possible. However, I don't really know how potential
rc-testers think so I'm not sure if this is a concern.

I don't think this is a big decision, since anyone who is a likely
tester already knows that rc1 is available and have already found the
installers without the announcement (we've received some good bug
reports already regarding rc1).

Thoughts?

Scott
