Exporting docs with cross-refs to LyX 2.2.x fails in alpha1-1

When I export a document containing cross-refs to LyX 2.2.x format & then try to open it in LyX 2.2.2, I get the error message and the document doesn't open. If I try to open it a second time, the document does open but is truncated at the first reference.
