and the problem/workaround is exactly the same: open the doc with a text-editor
& fix the fileformat magic number. This seems to happen to me so frequently
that I'd propose to write that down into the user manual and/or wiki pages :-)...
We've been discussing all the sort of remedies:
-) well-structured file format (XML) that can more easily work around
non-recognized insets
-) auto-download & upgrade of the latest lyx2lyx from lyx.org
-) auto-save with the old/previous format if the doc was open in that old
format in the first place
These all make sense to discuss, but after 5 years a working remedy for me is
just to let LyX try open the file anyway :-), namely the patch already posted
in this thread.
