This fixes one of the 3 bugs we are facing here. But how did you manage to get rid of \beginL? The point is that as user you just insert the number of columns but LyX does not take the number as verbatim.
I guess I only forgot to protect the inset as plain/verbatim in the modules file. I will hae a look.
