I have no idea on how keyboard input works in LyX. It seems that a standard
feature of Italian keyboard in Mac OS X is to return ‘?' when you type ^M. I
checked this also on previous version of Mac OS X and I obtained the same
behavior.
However if you type ^M into a terminal you obtain a carriage return which is
the expected behavior.
