I will wait a day for more comments to see if someone here thinks the patch actually does make sense, and if no one can give a confident +1 I will send an email to the Qt mailing list just showing the patch to see if the implied differences between Qt <5.5 and Qt ==5.6 of Qt events that are being received are expected.
