Note that the preamble is non-trivial.

The user posted this question on:
http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/300208/symbol-not-displayed-correctly-lyx?noredirect=1#comment727794_300208
and solved it by adding
\usepackage{lmodern}
to the preamble.

I asked the user to send an example file to this list because I wanted
to see if this is a bug in LyX. But if I copy the character to a new
document and compile, it works fine so I think that there is no bug.
