I agree this would be undesired (although I cannot reproduce).

I don't think so. If you're taking about what I think you are, you are
referring to the issue where if you press tab, LyX receives two tabs
(this can be easily seen in ERT).

I do not see this. For me the mini-buffer is opened.

I think so, but I cannot reproduce. Note that I am using Qt 5.6beta
though so perhaps it is a Qt bug that has been fixed. Also note that I
am compiling Qt so that could be another difference.
