Yes, it will be a fileformat change. When I commit I of course do this.

It would be nice if you always try to post complete patches. It is not
obvious to others what "of course" you will change. It is easy to make a
typo or mistake and not notice. We can't tell the difference between
that and something that you plan to change. Further it is so easy to
forget to change something before you commit.

Why do you want to see the obvious changes to the FORMATS file and the changed digits of the version? They are obvious and only cost you time to test the patch because you are then forced to a complete recompilation. (This takes here 15 min). The question is if we want to support LaTeX's verbatim* environment or not. If so, is the patch sufficient because the visible spaces are as invisible in LyX as in listings. So just apply the patch (no compilation is necessary at all) and tell what you think. You can also test the lyx2lyx code with my patch without a recompilation. This saves much time.

then in this case I would suggest posting two patches, one that you plan
to commit and one that is more convenient.

The task is to save time - that's what I don't have. Writing 10 of these mails is quicker for me than forcing me to recompile LyX completely.
