Somehow lyx itself > should be able to set the correct encoding. Not really: With XeTeX + TeX fonts you are testing a combination that is almost never used in real life (and never required). My proposal to restrict testing to real life cases was rejected, based on the true consideration that testing this obscure combination revealed real bugs. The problem is, that these tests give the bugs a far greater importance that they would have without test for obscure scenarios. (Just imagine we did not have the tests: the failing of LuaTeX + TeX fonts + mixed languages that require a different encoding would be treated as a minor enhancement request. Günter
