"fiddling with the preamble" as in "use LaTeX commands directly instead of LyX features". For me, the preamble of a good LyX document does only contain very special stuff which is not useful enough to deserve proper support in LyX, or not used often enough. References which use good names and are easy to use do definitely do not fall into this category, so LyX should offer builtin support for whatever LaTeX package is needed to obtain such references. > Why do you choose the option by which you feel offended ?
