Hi, in normal text, it is possible to place the cursor inside of a word and enter CTRL-e to emphasize the complete word. In a tabular cell, LyX seems to recognize CTRL-e (the "!" in the toolbar changes) but it does not print the word in italics. Instead you have to mark the complete word.
