No, it was a bycatch only.

No. I don't build universal binaries anymore.
There is no support for it with Qt anymore.
The latest patch levels doesn't compile for it, AFAIR.

This is what I had in mind too.

Unfortunately there are user reports telling LyX 2.2.0 is slow
(resp. slower than 2.1.4), IMHO. And I don't know anything about
Windows functionality and performance…

How did you determine that rendering is faster? May I try the same
and see how it works for me?
