Actually, Amir, I ran into this very same problem about 6 months ago.
I haven't been able to figure out why \lyxslide & friends break the
features of the "slides.cls", but I know that they do. I'd have to go
through past versions of "slides.layout" and match changes there to
talks I wrote back when I was in grad school. I know \onlyslide
worked back then, 'cause I used it!
Wish I knew what the problem was.
