I'm using an old version, though, because I got tired of having to fix the config file after every release. It looks like the current version might have it. I could try it if you think it would be helpful. But even with my version I can work around the problem by commanding echo "Xft.rgba: none" | xrdb -merge before starting lyx. Changing none to rgb above brings the problem back.
