OK, I will not push any further because I trust you on these issues much
more than myself since you know a lot more than I do and thus are best
positioned to balance the advantages against the disadvantages. I will
just say two more things: although this commit does not introduce a new
bug, it exposes an existing bug and from the perspective of the user
this is just as bad.

And assuming that all LyX documents are properly set up is not a good
idea in my opinion. But I am an economist so I make a living off of
unrealistic assumptions :)
