Actually, LyX does add a parskip in front of such displayed equation when there is an extra paragraph break. I checked with a ruler, and the amount of extra space is consistent to what happens on paper AFAICS.

However, we may want to add another type of visual help, like a corners around the current paragraph, like mathed does.
