Barring oversights, the latter. If no other failure is signaled, it went Ok.

Actually, I would reverse the thing. Give no messages until the end, and
only if it failed. However, the warning might help avoiding thinkos such
as 64e0c558, which was defeating the recover strategy that was already
in place ;)
