Interesting idea - and useful. But I would see it as a two step process:

1) right click - see bibtex entry
2) click on "file" field in the bibtex entry to see the pdf. In the same
way, on could open URL to see the paper online.

I think this is not a "managing bibtex files" issue for Jabref et al. and could 
definitely has its place in LyX.
