There are a few differences between packages of our versions: multicol 2011/06/27 v1.7a vs. multicol 2004/02/14 v1.6e and setspace 2011/12/19 v6.7a vs. setspace' 6.7 <2000/12/01> As a side note, if you happen to use Ubuntu and you would like to be able to use tlmgr to update, you might be interested in https://github.com/scottkosty/install-tl-ubuntu next time you install Ubuntu. In this case maybe it is an advantage not to update. You are the one that is able to compile and I am not! Can anyone with an up-to-date TeX Live installation confirm whether they get an error? This way I will know if it is an issue with my install or one of the package versions.
