For those still signing up; I got a lot of error messages first in one browser session where I was already logged in to two Google accounts. Nothing I tried let me go further.
Now I tried again at home and it seems the profile was created after all; I could continue without a hitch... So maybe you have to clear all cookies, close the browser, etc. to make things work.
